DATACORE | CASE STUDY
Scientific, technical and medical journals aspire to select the highest quality research through peer review and then publish the findings for an audience committed to lifelong learning. Professional medical journals have been printed for more than a century. After migrating to the Internet to take advantage of anytime-anywhere content delivery, professional journals are now branching out to engage readers on more portable digital devices.

Data-Core Systems was engaged by the Client to rapidly develop digital versions of hundreds of journal titles. The goal was to create engaging, interactive content that complemented both web and print. At the same time, data about the application’s usage was collected and analyzed in order to demonstrate the value of digital journals to advertisers.

Data-Core used Adobe Digital Publishing Suite to develop and publish engaging, interactive digital application versions of hundreds of the Client’s medical, nursing and allied health journals. Adobe Analytics in the Adobe Marketing Cloud was used to collect and analyze data about how readers use the digital journal application. With this data, the Publisher was able to develop a Print + App advertising bundle, leveraging interactive and video features for advertisers.

As a result, the publisher was able to deliver interactive digital versions of more than 180 journals, drive more than 1.2 million visits to iPad issues, increase engagement with the journal content across all formats by 69% and support increased advertising engagement with a unique advertisement view averaging 16 seconds for the iPad.
