The Client is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives.
The Client wanted to assess the requirements of, identify functional gaps in, and build a business case for, SAP Supply Chain Management (SCM) with Extended Warehouse Management (EWM). The organization also wanted to eliminate integration and data synchronization issues and provide a standalone solution that would satisfy the throughput and response time needed in high volume distribution operations. The Client also needed to identify which business objects consumed the most data, how old the data was, which application areas showed the largest growth rates, and if there was unused data so that they could finally implement an archiving strategy.
The completion of this project allowed the Client to do a thorough gap analysis on SAP SCM EWM and build a business case for implementation. In addition, the implementation of DMV helped the Client contain and control data growth within the SAP landscape.
In a follow-up project, the Client needed to upgrade SAP SCM 5.1 to SAP SCM Ehp1 to utilize the new advanced functionality available to improve their forecasting in Demand Planning and use improved customer forecasts to shape demand. The upgrade also promised to increase the stability and performance of the transfer of master data objects from the Client’s SAP ERP to SAP ARO.
The Client is now able to take advantage of the advanced planning capabilities in SAP APO and has improved its planning processes significantly. Improved master data transfer between systems has also helped increase the quality and performance of the forecasts.
